I do not recommend this company

This company was to pick up a damaged mattress that we purchased from Costco which was to be a return to Costco. I did nt hire them. I had no choice in them picking up the mattress from my home.
I received a call from George Moving and Storage with a date for pick up. The pick up was confirmed. In the next 2 days, I received 3 emails, 3 texts, 3 more calls all to just confirm what I had already confirmed 2 days prior. Apparantly this company does not update their information and deems it necessary to contact a person repeatedly.
When I spoke to the company scheduler, we discussed that since there is a PANDEMIC going on, the people who would come in my home would WEAR MASKS, and would wear booties on their shoes.
When the movers arrived, 10 min early, in a Enterprise rental truck, NOT a company truck, one of the movers wanted to come in my home WITHOUT A MASK ON!
I asked him where his mask was. His expression said it all. He looked at me like oh geez…
He went to get a mask from the truck. The second mover had to be told by me to put his mask on correctly.
THEY HAD NO SHOE COVERS.
I had to allow them to take their shoes off to come in and remove the mattress! How gross! I DON’T KNOW THESE PEOPLE!
I called the moving company following the incident.
The scheduler actually said to me explaining the behavior “well I can’t ride in the truck with them”! “I wrote masks and booties on the paper.”
Then, she actually asked ME who they were? Me. How would I know? They are her employees!
Were they contracted out and that’s why she had no clue?
I didn’t even get an apology.
All I received was a smart ass attitude.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALLOWING THEIR EMPLOYEES IN YOUR HOME.
I should have refused them entrance to my home.

Did not meet the expectations of a professional moving service. damaged pieces of furniture during the move, charged almost double the original agreement… so called “add ons”.

Disappointed in the level of service

Really wish I had seen prior reviews before working with this company affiliated with my employer. I moved last year and the message below (sent directly to the company’s leadership) described my largely negative experience.
I have to say that I am a bit disappointed that despite my request for this vehicle shipment back on June 29th and multiple follow-up calls/emails we were still unable to deliver my vehicle at the requested date. I understand moving and scheduling is challenging but my overall experience with your company has not been positive and I plan to leave a review stating this. Along with the inability to deliver my vehicle on time, multiple issues came up with my move including:
– inconsistent information regarding which movers would arrive at my apartment and when,
– movers subsequently arriving 4 hours late on the moving date,
– delivery of my apartment 4 days beyond the expected date of delivery,
– multiple lost items during the move / storage, and
– incorrect spelling of my name on nearly every itinerary I received
Again, I understand the challenges involved with moving but what has been especially frustrating is the way each issue has been handled in a matter-of-fact, unapologetic nature, including in the email you sent below. This level of professionalism does not seem consistent with the customer service I would expect to receive from a family-owned company that has been serving Pittsburgh for 40 years. I hope that if the university continues to work with your company that my future colleagues have a more positive experience.
