RIP OFF

Wow!! $6858,00 to move 1 partial living room of items 2 hours away??? WOW!!
We Called Allied Van Movers, and they put us in touch with these overly expensive movers.
We just got an absolutely outrageous $6858.00 quote to move my 90 yr old mothers living room items, wall units, 12 boxes of figurines and books plus a dining room table and chairs..These mover’s quoted us outrageously – $6858.00.. for 1 room of furnishings. NO appliances!
The items are not even worth that much and they are expecting an 90 yr old senior pensioner to pay close to $7000 to move these items 2 hours away ??!!?? The quote claims the pictures I sent to them were estimated at 6000 lbs of weight.. Surely that’s not correct .
At these prices we might as well sell items and purchase all brand new.. and we would still save money, instead of paying close to seven thousand dollars to move 2 hours away.
RIP OFF !!
We wont be using Hinton the Mover or Allied Van Movers at these prices..
OUTRAGEOUS … Considering we’ve already packed and boxed up everything when we put items in a 10 x 15 storage locker until Covid ended…so they just had to transport items and drop them off 2 hours away from pick up location.,

Team showed up on time and got right at it. They worked well together and, despite February cold/wind, etc worked carefully through the day and to the greatest extent handled everything, including the walls (!) very well. As I has a relocation services background I was able to help out with coordination/packing and support for them. Overall I’d use them again.

I had high hopes for this company, however the day of my move, one of the movers was extremely slow (moving one item at a time in the truck) and I witnessed he had to be re-directed many times to get moving ( they charge per hour). Also, I noticed the time started from when they left the facility to my home was 45 min and originally was quoted it would only take approx. 15 min to get there (again, everything is timed). I was also told that the $2000 I paid covered everything, but then 2 weeks later I find a charge of $406.80 and apparently that’s the storage cost for 1 month! When I brought this to their attention, I was told it was explained…it was not. If I had known this earlier, I def would have went with another company. Almost $3000 to move….def not worth the price. Will update once I get my items delivered to my new home.

I hired this moving company to move heavy items to my new home on January 7th 2019. I sustained damage to my furniture and floor. The following is a list of damages that occurred during the move. It was brought to my attention that they broke a mirror on the inside door of my wardrobe unit. Another mover showed me a piece of trim that came off of my tv unit. He said that it came off in the blanket after it had been unwrapped. The blanket was still on the ground when I checked the damage. The move was running way behind schedule. The driver could not find my address. This put me behind schedule about an hour and a half. I hired three men and they sent 4. Two of the employees appeared to know what they were doing the other two didn’t. The employees were arguing with each other. One of the employees had to stop the other two guys because they were bringing my freezer in upside down!! My other house was closing. I had to leave a few minutes after the movers left to finish at my other house and go to a few appointments. I notice that my couch and love seat were left with the legs not put on before I left. I mentioned this to their manager on the phone when he called to settle up with the bill. I returned home at approximately 6 PM that night. I went upstairs to my living room I was horrified to see the huge scratch with several gouges in my floor. The scratch and gouges were right in front of the tv unit. This is were the blanket was on the floor when I viewed the trim damage. I took pictures to document this. I called the company office. They were closed and I could not leave a message on their phone. I emailed them on their website. I also called *** the person who initially contacted me to set up the move. He told me it wasn’t his department and to call the office the next day. I called the next day and told the manager. He sent me a claim form. I filled it out and sent it back with pictures for them to view. Three weeks went by and I hadn’t heard from them. I finally received contact from a person in the claims department named ***** after I complained. They offered a settlement for my mirror and tv unit and asked what i was seeking for the floor damage. I told them I would have to see if it could be repaired. I consulted several flooring experts and was told in each case that the damage to the laminate floor could not be repaired. The damage covers several floor boards in front of the tv unit as well as underneath it. It is in a highly visible part of the room. They asked me to send a quote. I did from *************** from *******************************. The total is $5869.30 + HST. The flooring covers the living room, hallway and two bedrooms. It is all the same and there are no seams. They got back to me and wanted their general contractor to come and give an estimate. I let the contractor come but to them I would require a list of the contractors credentials and an itemized list of the estimate to see what work was going to be done. I never received these documents. I found it strange that the contractor told me what the company would and would not do in my home. He called the next day to say he had a sample of flooring that he wanted to see if it matched my floor. I do not know the grade or quality of this material and I have a written statement from a flooring expert that my flooring is no longer available. I told company I would not accept a quick fix job. I asked the company to get back to me by Friday April 19th 2019 with a fair and reasonable solution. I have not heard from them.
