I can’t say enough good things about South Hills Movers! I moved out of the apartment building that was Kaufmann’s downtown. The move was very difficult because the freight elevator has been down in the apartment building for months. The only way to move out was to use a passenger elevator, carry all of my belongings over a marble floor and carry everything a block down Fifth Avenue to the moving truck. I called countless movers and no one would do the move because of the difficulty. I called South Hills Movers and from the very beginning everyone was so professional and willing to help! Everyone had a can do attitude and really worked to get the move accomplished! In the end the move went better than I could have ever anticipated! South Hills Movers did it in less time than they estimated and everything arrived safe and sound to my new house.

I used south hills movers in June 2019, the day of the move one of the workers informed me that they had broken the glass on my curio cabinet and they would take care of fixing it, ok fine. Weeks go by so I call and the woman answering tells me oh no you have to file a claim to get your stuff fixed, ok fine. Few more weeks go by I call again, nothing. Few more days I call again oh you have to fill out the claim form and send it back to us, ok fine. Several weeks go by and it’s now sept 2019. I call again and finally get them to send someone to measure the glass etc etc. few more go by and I call again to ask when they are going to fix the curio and I’m told that it will be 350.00 to fix and install the glass but they are only going to give me 250.00 for the repair and the rest is on me, say what?!?! Wow

I am just very disappointed with what happened. We were planning on moving on a set date and never gave another date as an option. They came to our home and looked around and gave an estimate. The employee was very friendly, as is their staff. She sent the estimate in a timely manner but when I was called to reserve the date it was mentioned that it was a weekday rate. We are moving on a Saturday and it is considered “overtime”. Never once did we say we wanted a weekday. The employee that came to our home mentioned a weekday move to save a few hundred dollars but we never asked for a weekday. They didn’t even offer to keep our price the same and expected us to pay 300 more dollars for a mistake that they made on their own. That’s just bad business in my opinion. Make sure you are very thorough with your date and moving needs. Now we are in a scramble to find someone reasonable.
**update: SHM did offer to give us original price but we at that point had found another mover
