I will never use them again

f I could, I would give them 0 stars. I used their Nyack, NY affiliate for my move and it turned out to be a nightmare. Not only was I lied to about the time the crew would show up (9am), I was also lied to about how to pay for the move. On top of that, they removed a gas fireplace from my old home and brought it to my new home and they also damaged a vintage desk (I didn’t see the damage until a week or so later.) During the move, one of the crew dragged a hutch across a finished floor and caused a 2 foot scratch in it which I had to return the next day and repair along with reattaching the fireplace they removed. When we arrived at our new home, the head of the crew, Juan, demanded payment before they would unload. I refused at first because of the things I mentioned above. They said they would not unload unless they received the payment in cash (which I was never told during my conversations with John Kelly, their rep in Nyack, NY). I told Mr. Kelly at that time that I wanted to pay by credit card, or by personal check and was told that it would all be settled later. We also had to call the local police department because they took off with our belongings after I could not come up with the cash (I was willing to pay them by check and they refused.) They also got two more people involved from their end, a Mr. Milano (this person was very rude to my wife and kept threatening her to get the cash and bring it to the crew), and a Russ (I believe that was his name) who must have been the crew’s boss. This guy didn’t want to hear anything about the crew being late, about paying by check , or the fireplace and the damage to the floor in the other house. In the meantime, I contacted Mr. Kelly and explained what was going on. He said he would have to contact corporate and get back to me. When he called me back, he told me I had to pay by cash, or Zelle, If I didn’t pay, they would leave and I would be charged for the extra hours that they were gone. My daughter and then left and tried to get money out of some local ATMs, but weren’t successful because we couldn’t remember our pin numbers (we were stressed out too much.) While we were gone, my wife called the police because of Mr. Milano and when my daughter and I got back, the police were already there and were speaking to Mr. Milano. My brother showed up a few minutes later and had withdrawn some cash (not even half) and agreed to use Zelle to pay the rest. By this time, the price had gone up another $200. The policeman talking with Mr. Milano got the account number after 2 tries and the transaction went through. It’s amazing that the tone Mr. Milano used towards my wife was not the same tone he used with the police. Anyway, the crew was told to remove everything from the truck into the house. I refused to let them go in and set things up because it was now 9:pm. Most everything was packed into the garage. I then asked for a receipt and Juan started to fill out the paperwork. I just signed the paper because now it was 10:30 pm and my wife, daughter and myself were all tired and just wanted to get some sleep because we had been up since 5 am. The next day, I noticed the hours we were charged (11 hrs.) on the receipt. It’s amazing that they showed up at 2:40 pm and left at 10:30 pm (8 hrs.) and I was charged for 11 hrs. This company not only lied about their arrival time, damaged some things, removed a working gas fireplace, and overcharged me by 3 hrs. I haven’t filed any claims as of yet because I have been busy trying to get some order in my new house and dealing with a death in our family. I will never use them again, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. They caused nothing but stress on a day that we didn’t need any (we had 2 walk throughs and 2 closings on that day.) They made it worse by not showing up on time, causing the damage that they did, and hassling us. One other thing that I have to mention about Mr. Milano is that he made a statement to the police officers that our checks bounce and that if we wrote a check, the check would also bounce. In response to that, Mr. Milano, we have never had a check bounce in the 49 years that we’ve been married and have excellent credit ratings.

Move from NY to Tennessee

Rated 1 out of 5

Worst experience ever. We moved from NY to Tennessee with them. Our home took up a full tractor trailer and had over 350 packed boxes. when the trailer opened it’s doors in TN, we were shocked and what we saw as it looked like a bunch of college kids packed it moving stuff from dorm to dorm. Items shoved in wherever… stacks of various sized boxes (some on their sides). As items were taken off the truck, other items were falling periodically, some even falling off the truck. It was shoddy work, at best. The crew that moved us in, could not follow simple instructions and it took us months to find items (even after carefully packing & labeling everything as well as itemizing lists) many items were broken, some parts to equipment are missing… and the worst part was the amount of time it took us to recover from it all. This is the worst moving company we have ever used.

The moving crew was great!

Stevens Van Lines was great to work with on a cross state move (Frankenmuth to Holland). Rhonda was quick to answer my questions and the communication was timely and proactive. The final charges were within a few hundred dollars of the original estimate. The moving crew was great! Professional, fast, careful, maintained a good attitude and worked with me through move-out and move-in process.

I moved from California to Texas. Everyone I spoke with, from the moving coordinator to the driver, was courteous, professional, and responsive. I had them pack my stuff and everything arrived safely, nothing broken. I would definitely use them again for a big move.
