Good In Toronto, Preposterous In Vancouver
Our Toronto to Vancouver move went well on pickup (great careful team). Delivery was a joke – understaffed (2 guys including the driver, had 5 people on pickup, so they went over the estimated time and we ended having to help them) and disorganized. Had multiple boxes from another party delivered (which I found and told them to take back). For the items they packed/unpacked, the movers put the empty boxes beside full ones, then when removing empties took a full box (item still in it) back onto the truck without us realizing and apparently recycled it.
We have gone through an extensive process to try to obtain compensation, or at least clarification of how they justify violating their own terms of carriage, including writing their President. Haven’t heard back.
In short, paying for a professional moving company but only getting the service on half the trip wasn’t worth it. Tippet then wasn’t willing to address their error. I’d suggest looking at another company.
This company is horrible. Contracts are not legally binding. Because they have your credit card they will put whatever ridiculous charge on it without prior notification. They hire people who do not record all your items so when items are missing they do not take responsibility. They damage your stuff and when you file a claim they give you much less than the value of the item or just refuse stating that there is no evidence that the damage occurred in their care. They do not provide details of the trailer weight prior to picking up your stuff so they can put whatever weight they want.
Expensive And Add Ons
Tippet Richardson has OUTRAGEOUS COSTS for a move. Unless money is not an issue, do not even consider requesting a quote cause they don’t even follow costs that are outlined in the agreement. They add travel to and from the move destinations; gas; and $200 per hour. They have careful and friendly crews, however, it is not worth the money. Reason why is you will receive a quote for half the time, and since they secure a deposit on your credit card they will put whatever ridiculous amount they want to charge you for double the hours immediately on your credit card. Dispute it and they give you the run around for several months, thinking you will give up on a credit. Rent your own moving truck, hire private movers that are outside of this rip off mover and you won’t even spend half the money. Thousands of dollars to move, legal fees for a move, not to mention all other costs associated with the move is not worth your time to even consider Tippet Richardson. Ridiculous costs and they add on costs that are unreasonable. Never again!!!!!
Avoid Tippet Richardson Like You Would COVID-19
A local 3 day move from house to condo (2.8Km). Day 3 was a disaster. Three items damaged (dropped) when unloading truck; the top to a travertine marble end-table, a large desk and a component cabinet (one of five) of a 118 inch wall unit. Initial settlement: desk denied as it was “falling apart“- replacement $900; the travertine end table allowed at $350 (replacement $1500) and the wall unit allowed at $200 (replacement $10,000). At the conclusion of the move TR refused to move 3 large shelves; part of the wall unit. I had to pay extra (cash) to have them brought up. So much for contracts. They are not to be trusted.
Moving From Whitby To Oshawa
Lynn arranged everything for our move with overnight holding and everything went well. The moving team, led by Curtis, was Excellent, hard-working, faster than expected. It was a bit more difficult as we had very large furniture to fit into our smaller new home, but they accomplished it. All wore masks, which was important during this time of Covid 19. Thanks
